As part of the working visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), a new base for measuring temperature and snow depth was put into operation in the rural jamoat of Navobod in the Shugnan district. This was reported by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan.
The new meteorological base is equipped with modern equipment that allows for prompt monitoring of the state of snow cover and temperature indicators in the region. The facility will significantly expand the capabilities for monitoring climate conditions and provide reliable data for preventing possible natural disasters and planning economic activities.
The project was implemented with technical support from the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development, as well as a number of international partners. The opening of the base is timed to coincide with the preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's State Independence and serves as an important step in strengthening climate security and the environmental infrastructure of the region.
The Environmental Protection Committee notes that the launch of the new facility will help improve the quality of meteorological services and create a reliable system for monitoring changes in natural conditions in the country's mountainous regions.
