Kazakhstan intends to expand the volume of grain exports to the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan following a meeting between Minister Aidarbek Saparov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Khairullo Ibodzoda.
As the head of the agricultural department emphasized, about 1 million tons of grain are exported from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan annually. In 2024, this figure increased. According to data from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the volume of exports last year amounted to 1.3 million tons, which exceeds the same figure for 2023 by 20%.
Since the beginning of the new agricultural season, i.e. from September 2024 to June 2025, Kazakhstan has already exported 1.2 million tons of grain to Tajikistan. This is one and a half times more than during the same period of the previous season, when 823 thousand tons were exported.
Aidarbek Saparov noted that the steps outlined contribute to strengthening food security in Central Asia and open up new prospects for bilateral trade and economic cooperation. He emphasized that Kazakhstan is ready to further increase its export potential in the direction of Tajikistan, relying on sustainable logistics chains, in particular, rail transportation.
It was previously reported that in 2024, Kazakhstan as a whole increased grain exports by 35%. The total volume of exported grain amounted to 7 million tons, the bulk of which was sent to Central Asian countries.
