Early potato harvesting continues in the dehkan farms of the rural jamoat of Khalifa Hasan in the city of Penjikent. This was reported by the press service of the Sughd region administration.
One of the first high results was achieved by Abdugaffor Samadov from the Mekhnatobod dekhkan farm in the village of Sufiyon, who harvested more than 4.5 tons of crops from a plot of 13 acres. The potatoes were planted in the spring of this year, on the eve of the Navruz holiday. The Big-Rosa variety was used, which is distinguished by its early maturity and good yield.
The average yield on Samadov's plot was about 350 centners per hectare, which is a high figure for the region. The harvest of another shareholder of the farm, Makhmadzarif Yokubov, grown on 25 acres of land, was also abundant.
Due to the arrival of fresh potatoes to the local market, in particular to the Kawola roadside market, there has been a gradual reduction in retail prices for this type of product.
As experts note, in the fields where early potatoes have been harvested, farmers have already begun sowing carrots and other early-ripening vegetable crops, which allows for the efficient use of land resources and the receipt of double income in one season.
In total, early potatoes were planted on 74 hectares of dehkan farms in the rural jamoat of Khalifa Hasan this spring. The harvest continues and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
The district leadership notes that such successes are the result of a competent approach to agricultural technology, timely care of crops, and the hard work of local farmers.
