In the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan, a set of measures to ensure food security and saturate the consumer market with quality products continues to be implemented. One of these events was another fair and sale of agricultural products, which took place on Saturday in the city of Khujand, the press service of the regional administration reports.
The event was organized in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon as part of efforts to effectively use land resources, introduce re-sowing and obtain two or three harvests from one plot.
The fair was attended by dehkan and farming enterprises, as well as industrial enterprises of the region, presenting a wide range of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and processed products at prices below market prices. Particular attention was paid to the availability of products for the population and control over their quality.
The Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, visited the fair in Khujand and got acquainted with the range of products on display. He instructed the responsible bodies to ensure constant control over the pricing policy, quality of goods and the smooth organization of such events. According to him, in the conditions of active harvesting in the regions, prices for vegetables and fruits remain stable and below market prices.
"Regular holding of fairs not only helps to provide citizens with fresh and inexpensive products, but also supports domestic producers, creates conditions for direct sales without intermediaries," Akhmadzoda emphasized.
The regional leadership emphasizes that special attention is paid to improving the culture of agriculture. City and district leaders are required to work on the rational use of agricultural land, the application of recommendations from agricultural specialists, and increasing crop yields.
The efficient use of existing agricultural and production capacities, according to the executive body of state power of the Sughd region, will increase the volume of production and strengthen the region's contribution to national food security.
Regular fairs continue every week in the largest populated areas of the region and have already proven themselves to be an effective tool for stabilizing prices and providing for the country's food market.
