Russian military again struck Kharkov with drones on the night of June 12. There are casualties, including children, local authorities report.
The city's mayor, Igor Terekhov, writes that "11 hits were recorded" and another "Shahed" did not explode.
"Residential areas, educational institutions, kindergartens, and infrastructure came under fire. Dozens of cars were damaged, windows in schools and houses were broken. At least 12 casualties were recorded, including four children," the report says.
Later, the regional prosecutor's office reported that the number of victims had risen to 16. Five of the wounded were taken to hospital, the National Police confirmed.
As the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration Oleg Sinegubov specified , a two-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl were wounded.
The Ukrainian State Emergency Service notes that fires broke out in the Saltovsky, Slobidsky and Shevchenkovsky districts of the city. Houses, shops and cars were burning, rescuers claim.
Terekhov also reports fires in areas adjacent to residential buildings and educational institutions.
"In some cases, debris fell right next to children's playgrounds. One of the strikes damaged the elevator shaft of a multi-story building, another destroyed part of a non-residential building and a public transport stop," the mayor of Kharkiv claims.
On the night of June 11, the Russian army also struck Kharkov with drones. Three people were killed, 64 are known to have been injured, including nine children.
