On June 2, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Sulaimon Ziyozoda got acquainted with the progress of construction of residential buildings for families affected by the earthquake in the Rasht district. This was reported by NIAT Khovar with reference to the Executive Authority of the state power of the district.
The visit was carried out as part of the implementation of the instructions and orders of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to provide housing to citizens affected by the natural disaster. During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister inspected construction sites and landscaping work, after which he gave specific instructions and recommendations to the relevant structures aimed at ensuring the quality and timely completion of construction work.
Let us recall that on April 13, 2025, at 09:24 local time, an earthquake occurred 160 kilometers from Dushanbe and 21 kilometers from the Rasht region. The strength of the tremors at the epicenter was 5-6 points on the Richter scale, in the Rasht region itself – 4-5 points, in Dushanbe – up to 3 points.
According to preliminary data, 65 residential buildings were completely destroyed, 193 were partially damaged, and another 150 were slightly damaged. 193 auxiliary buildings, 1 regional hospital, 2 first aid stations, and 8 educational facilities were also damaged.
On the instructions of Emomali Rahmon, a national headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster was quickly created in the region. Its tasks include coordinating recovery work, providing the population with food, building materials and essential items, as well as resettling victims to safe conditions.
The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan continues to take measures to quickly restore social infrastructure and return residents to normal life.
