On June 5, at the Palace of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the heads of government of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States who arrived in Dushanbe, the press service of the head of state reported.
The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between the parties within the Commonwealth and the agenda of Tajikistan’s chairmanship of the CIS.
Head of State Emomali Rahmon spoke about the priorities of Tajikistan's chairmanship, including the measures taken by our country in the direction of developing and expanding cooperation relations and resolving pressing issues.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan, within the framework of its participation and, in particular, the current chairmanship of the CIS, is conducting constructive work on the further development of multilateral cooperation of all participating states.
The President of the country emphasized: “The measures we are taking in this direction are based, first of all, on the principles of friendship, respect and mutual trust, mutually beneficial cooperation and taking into account the interests of all parties.”
At the same time, the Head of State emphasized Tajikistan’s readiness to further expand interaction in all areas of cooperation to ensure sustainable socio-economic development, as well as strengthening stability and security throughout the Commonwealth.
Ways to expand cooperation between the Commonwealth member countries in various areas, including economics and trade, industry, energy, attracting investment in the development of the agro-industrial sector, innovation and digitalization, were the topics for which the head of state Emomali Rahmon put forward a number of proposals.
Strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the Commonwealth member countries was called sustainable steps and a way to develop ties.
Along with this, during the conversation, the Head of State drew attention to issues of cooperation in the fields of education, healthcare, culture, science and technology.
It was noted that the adoption of an action plan for the implementation of the second stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030 is an important issue of Tajikistan’s chairmanship within the Commonwealth.
Opinions were expressed on strengthening cooperation between countries on environmental protection issues, supporting each other’s initiatives to solve global problems, and on the results of the first high-level international conference on glacier conservation.
In addition, it was considered necessary to expand cooperation in the field of security and combating modern challenges and threats.
At the end of the conversation, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon wished success in the work of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS member states.
