On June 3, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon together with the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Rustami Emomali got acquainted with the progress of the second stage of construction work on the highway from the Western Gate to the Chortut mahalla, the press service of the head of state reports.
During his familiarization with the road project, the Head of State was informed that construction work on the road from the Western Gate to the Chortut mahalla began in 2023.
The road is 50 meters wide and includes 8 traffic lanes in both directions. The main elements of the road are pedestrian sidewalks, a 37.5 meter long bridge over the Gissar Canal, a 175 meter long overpass over the railway, 2 interchanges, as well as planting of decorative and shady trees and shrubs on both sides.








More than 200 engineers and workers are involved in the construction, using 44 powerful road construction machines and mechanisms, working around the clock to complete the construction efficiently and according to plan and put the road into operation.
The road from the Western Gate to the Chortut mahalla is part of the ring road around the capital and is designed to reduce traffic density on major highways and prevent congestion in the city.
After this section of the road is put into operation, cars heading from the Gissar Valley in the eastern and southern directions will no longer pass through the central streets of the capital.
As reported to Emomali Rahmon, within the framework of the project of the highway from the Western Gate to the Chortut mahalla, the construction of a two-level road 67.3 meters long, which will consist of four traffic lanes in both directions, is actively continuing.
The total length of the road from the Western Gate to the Chortut mahalla is 9.2 kilometers and meets international standards.
The first stage of the road was commissioned in 2023 on a 5-kilometer section, and the second and third stages, with a total length of 4.2 kilometers, are scheduled to be completed by 2027.
In total, two automobile bridges and one multi-level overpass will be built on the 18-kilometer-long ring road under construction, which will connect the western and southern gates of the capital without entering the city.
The head of state gave engineers and road builders instructions and recommendations on the effective use of existing opportunities and conditions, acceleration of construction work and early commissioning of this road.
In the same way, in Dushanbe, on the eve of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of State independence, the construction of numerous social and service facilities is actively continuing. The purpose of implementing these events is to improve the level of socio-economic life of the population, ensure high-quality service to guests and tourists, and present the customs and ancient culture of the Tajik people in the international arena.
