On May 30, in Dushanbe, three Central Asian countries – Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan – agreed on a joint regime for the operation of the Bahri Tojik (Tajik Sea) reservoir for the summer of 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
The trilateral agreement was signed following a meeting between the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma, the Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamroev and the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan Nurzhan Nurzhigitov within the framework of the International Conference on Glacier Conservation.
As reported by the ministry, the document provides for the joint operation of the water body, taking into account the interests of all parties and is aimed at ensuring water security and rational use of resources in the region.
