The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a meeting between Minister Zavrizoda Zavka Amin and Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, Regional Director of the UN Development Program (UNDP) Ivana Zivkovic. The meeting was devoted to discussing current and promising areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable development, the press service of the department reports.
As the Minister noted, under the leadership of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with international organizations, including the UN and UNDP, has reached a qualitatively new level. According to him, UNDP has proven itself as a reliable partner, providing significant support in the implementation of socio-economic reforms in the country.

The parties discussed the current implementation of joint projects, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in priority sectors – green energy, water management, combating climate change, regional development and digitalization. Particular attention was paid to the need to attract additional financial resources to implement new initiatives in these areas.
In turn, Ivana Zivkovic confirmed UNDP’s readiness to continue supporting Tajikistan’s efforts towards sustainable development, emphasizing the organization’s openness to new forms of interaction and expanding the scale of technical and financial assistance.
According to UNDP data, the organization has been operating in Tajikistan since 1994. During this period, projects worth more than $615 million were financed. Currently, 37 active projects are being implemented in the republic for a total of over $60 million.
During the visit, representatives of the parties also discussed mechanisms for coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of projects implemented with the support of UNDP, which, according to the participants of the meeting, will increase their practical significance and sustainability of results.
