The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, took part in and spoke at the first Central Asia-Italy summit, which was held in the capital of Kazakhstan. During the event, prospects for expanding cooperation between the countries of the region and Italy in key areas were outlined.
In his speech, Emomali Rahmon emphasized the importance of developing trade and economic ties, as well as intensifying cooperation in the fields of energy, water resources, healthcare, agriculture, science and education. The head of state noted that Tajikistan has significant potential in hydropower, mining and mineral extraction, as well as in the production and export of agricultural products, textiles and construction materials.






The President suggested that Italian business circles should become more actively involved in the extraction and processing of the country's natural resources, as well as invest in the industrial and agricultural sector using advanced technologies. He recalled existing successful projects in the light industry, such as joint textile enterprises with Italian capital.
Particular attention was paid to the creation of a joint investment fund for Central Asia with the participation of the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE) and leading Italian companies. Such a fund should facilitate the development of regional infrastructure and transport communications.
The head of state stressed the need for joint efforts to combat climate change. In particular, he noted the importance of Italy's participation in the international conference on glacier conservation held in Dushanbe. Emomali Rahmon expressed interest in cooperation with the Italian Climate Fund to support initiatives to adapt to climate change.




In the field of education, the President proposed developing academic exchange between universities in Tajikistan and Italy, as well as expanding joint research and student exchange programs under the European Union’s Erasmus Plus and Horizon Europe programs.
Speaking about the global challenges of our time, Emomali Rahmon stressed the need for a joint fight against terrorism, extremism, radicalism, transnational organized crime and cybercrime. He noted the importance of strengthening international cooperation to ensure regional security.
In conclusion of his speech, the President of Tajikistan expressed the country's readiness for further close cooperation with Italy on all issues of mutual interest. He stressed the importance of continuing the dialogue and implementing joint projects for the benefit of the peoples of the region.
