The electronic gate system at Dushanbe International Airport is currently being updated and will begin operating in full mode in the coming days, NIAT Khovar reported, citing the airport's press center.
The implementation of this technology is being carried out with the support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and on the initiative of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.
Earlier, in December 2024, a government decree was signed "On the procedure for using the technical equipment "Electronic Gates" at the country's international airports." As part of its implementation, the terminals of Tajikistan's international airports were equipped with the appropriate equipment, which allows citizens of the country, foreign citizens and stateless persons to undergo border control in a simplified manner.
Passengers pass through security by inserting the main page of their passport into the reader, then follow the on-screen instructions, have their photo taken, and complete the process. One passenger can use one device at a time.
The purpose of implementing the “Electronic Gate” is to simplify and speed up border control, reduce the time for registration when crossing the border, improve the level of service, ensure security and compliance with international standards.
Currently, the equipment has been installed at Dushanbe airport, and in the future it is planned to be introduced at other international airports in Tajikistan.
