Representatives of the railway administrations of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan held a trilateral working meeting dedicated to increasing the volume of freight traffic and optimizing work at interstate junction points. This was reported by the State Unitary Enterprise "Tajik Railways".
The negotiations took place on May 12, 2025 in Kazakhstan. They were attended by delegations from KTZ – Freight Transportation LLC (Kazakhstan), Uzbekistan Railways JSC and Tajik Railways State Unitary Enterprise. They were headed by Erbol Tusupov, Deputy General Director for Operations at KTZ – Freight Transportation LLC, Abduvali Kodirov, Head of the Transportation Organization Department at Uzbekistan Railways JSC, and Radzhabmurod Odinaev, Head of the Transportation Service at Tajik Railways State Unitary Enterprise.

During the meeting, issues of increasing cargo transportation and optimizing processes at the interstate connection points (ICP) "Oasis" and "Saryagash" were discussed. Particular attention was paid to ensuring the timely receipt and removal of cargo, as well as the development of container transportation, which in the direction of "China – Central Asia" increased by 104% compared to the same period last year, which corresponds to 144 container trains.
According to data for 2024, the volume of freight traffic between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to 11.5 million tons. The average daily transfer of trains through the Saryagash railway station in the first four months of 2025 reached 26 trains.
The Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan reports that in the first quarter of 2025, 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in the republic, which is 12.8% more than in the same period in 2024. Rail transport accounts for 71.8% of the country's total international cargo turnover.
In April 2025, Tajikistan's Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim emphasized the need for cooperation with partners to implement projects for the construction and reconstruction of the railway fleet, as well as to ensure the export of agricultural products.
In addition, on May 17, 2025, at the Republican Seminar-Conference, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon instructed the Export Agency, the Customs Service and the State Unitary Enterprise “Tajik Railways”, together with regional authorities, to organize effective work on the export of early fruits and vegetables through the creation of working headquarters.
Following the meeting of representatives of the railways of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a protocol of intent on further cooperation was signed.
