On May 21, a working meeting of the standing commission on preventing the illegal use of electricity and equipment for cryptocurrency mining was held in Khujand. The event was held in the A. Rudaki Palace of Culture and was organized in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the press service of the regional administration reports .
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda, Chairman of the Sughd Region Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, representatives of law enforcement agencies and relevant departments.
The main topic of discussion was measures to prevent the installation and operation of illegal equipment aimed at mining cryptocurrencies, the misuse of electricity, as well as reducing losses and ensuring full payment for consumed energy.





Usmonali Usmonzoda in his speech noted the importance of rational use of electricity in the context of consumption growth associated with the socio-economic development of the country. Strengthened control and preventive measures should contribute to the effective provision of energy resources to the population and the reduction of non-production losses.
A representative of the Prosecutor General's Office spoke in detail about legislative changes that came into force in April 2025, which provide for criminal liability for interference with the operation of meters, theft of electricity and illegal connections.
The head of the region, Akhmadzoda, emphasized that under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, large-scale measures are being implemented in the country to achieve energy independence and improve energy efficiency. The President has repeatedly noted the need for careful handling of electricity and reducing its losses, which is an important factor in economic development.






To explain the new legislation and ensure full compliance with the rules for the use of electricity, a working group was created, which holds meetings with citizens and heads of organizations in the region. Control over the supply and payment of electricity in all seasons of the year has also been strengthened.
At the end of the meeting, the participants were given tasks to coordinate the efforts of all interested departments, as well as to strengthen the work of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal use of electricity and mining equipment.
