On May 17, 2025, on the Khorog-Darvaz highway, in the area of the rural jamoat Nulvand (Darvaz district), a Mercedes truck driven by a resident of the Firdavsi district of Dushanbe overturned into the Panj River. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the accident could be high speed, due to which the driver lost control, the press service of the Emergency Situations Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan reports .
Rescuers from the district department of the Emergency Situations Committee conducted search operations throughout May 18, but were unable to find the car and driver. The search was resumed on May 19.
On the same day, May 18, a mudflow came down on the Dushanbe-Vahdat-Rogun highway on the section from 94 to 96 kilometers due to heavy rains, temporarily blocking traffic. Engineering equipment and a front loader of the State Institution of Automobile Transport and Roads of the Nurabad District were used to clear the road. By now, the road has been completely cleared, traffic has been restored.
In the city of Tursunzade, heavy rainfall led to a rise in water level in the Shaikhmuzaffar canal and flooding of the garden plots of several houses. The local branch of the Emergency Situations Committee, the fire service, as well as 10 employees with fire-fighting equipment and motor pumps for pumping out water were called in to eliminate the consequences of the flooding.
Servicemen of military unit 45075, local residents and specialists from district organizations are involved in the restoration and elimination of the consequences of natural disasters in the rural jamoats of Kalai Labi Ob and Langari Shokh. About 20 people are involved in the work every day, as well as equipment – front loaders and trucks.
