The CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra opened its 2025 tour with a concert in Dushanbe as part of the Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS Member States. The event kicked off on May 14 at Tajikistan's main music venue, the Sadriddin Aini Tajik State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The orchestra was created on the initiative of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS and first gathered in November 2007 in Astana (Kazakhstan) to participate in a concert dedicated to the II Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS. The program was conducted by People's Artist of Russia, Kazakhstan and Tatarstan Fuat Mansurov.
Since then, the orchestra’s geography of performances has expanded significantly: concerts have been held in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, as well as in the halls of the UN General Assembly in New York and the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
Since 2019, the orchestra has been headed by People's Artist of Russia Sergey Skripka. In Dushanbe, the maestro was joined by conductors Rasul Klychev, artistic director of the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, and Konstantin Naumenko, conductor of the Zhukovsky Symphony Orchestra. Tajikistan is represented by conductors Daler Tilloev and Alisher Oliev.
The orchestra includes young musicians from the CIS countries – winners of prestigious music competitions. The concert program includes classical music pieces by Russian and foreign composers.
The Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia has become a good tradition for the orchestra in recent years. This project of the IFGS not only supports concert activities, but also provides young artists with the opportunity to learn from outstanding conductors and orchestral masters from the CIS countries.
In addition, during the tour, a varied cultural program is organized for young musicians.
