Since May of this year, a new functionality has been put into operation at border customs posts in Tajikistan – the "Passenger Declaration" module, which is part of the global information system for the automation of customs processes ASICUDA (Automated System for Customs Data). This was officially reported by the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
This module was activated as part of the strategic task of switching completely to the electronic format of filing passenger customs declarations. Its implementation is aimed at creating a centralized and secure database that will allow recording and monitoring the movement of individuals across the state customs border of the country with maximum accuracy and efficiency.
The ASYCUDA global information system, developed with the assistance of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), is a comprehensive solution designed to automate and optimize customs administration. This system is being implemented to improve the efficiency of customs procedures, ensure transparency, and reduce the time for processing goods and passengers at the border.
According to representatives of the Customs Service, the launch of the Passenger Declaration module has become an important stage in the digital transformation of the customs service, allowing not only to improve the quality of collecting and processing passenger data, but also to promote the development of cashless payments, which meets the modern requirements of the digital economy.
The project to integrate ASICUDA into the customs practice of Tajikistan was launched in early 2022 and is being implemented as part of a broad program to digitalize various sectors of the country's economy, as well as in the context of improving transport and logistics communications in the Central Asian region. The use of modern IT technologies and elements of artificial intelligence can significantly speed up customs clearance processes and increase the level of security when crossing the state border.
"Today, the implementation of the ASICUDA system and its modules is being carried out on a test basis at all customs clearance points throughout the country. The system's operation is monitored and regularly improved to achieve maximum efficiency and convenience for both customs officers and passengers," the Customs Service commented.
The implementation of this system is expected to significantly increase the transparency of customs procedures, improve control over the international movement of individuals, and optimize the collection of customs duties, which will ultimately contribute to strengthening the state budget and developing the country's economy as a whole.
