During operational search activities, police officers detained a 23-year-old man suspected of the brutal murder of a 39-year-old resident of the J. Balkhi district, the Tatarstan Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
As the investigation established, on April 13, 2025, the suspect met the victim at the central market and asked him to borrow 15,000 somoni, indicating his bank card number. On April 19, after the suspect received 13,780 somoni into his account, he prepared for the crime. That day, at about 4:30 p.m., he bought 1.5 liters of gasoline at a gas station, took rubber gloves and a lighter, and then contacted the victim, sending an SMS message of gratitude.
The attacker then suggested that the victim go to the mountains, to which the victim agreed. On the way, they bought snacks and drinks, but at the resting place, the suspect got into a conflict with the victim. Putting on gloves, he struck the victim several times on the head and other parts of the body, after which the victim fell unconscious. Using the moment, the suspect threw the victim into a hole 5-6 meters deep.
To cover up the evidence of the crime, he placed eaten food under the body and set the victim on fire by dousing him with gasoline.
The victim's body was found on May 10, 2025, on the hills of the village of Khalevard with obvious signs of burns. A criminal case was opened against the detainee under Part 2 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
