Veterans and disabled people of the Great Patriotic War from Tajikistan, by decision of the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali, will receive a one-time payment of 25 thousand somoni (about $2.4 thousand), TASS reports.
"According to the decree of the Chairman of the City of Dushanbe, each participant and disabled person of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 will be allocated 25 thousand somoni," the mayor's Telegram channel said.
Currently, there are 17 participants of the Great Patriotic War and 121 home front workers living in Tajikistan.
During the war, more than 300,000 people were called up from Tajikistan to the Red Army, and more than 90,000 residents of the republic did not return from the front. According to the council of war and labor veterans of the republic, 56,000 Tajiks were awarded orders and medals of the USSR for their bravery and military merits, 56 residents of the republic became Heroes of the Soviet Union, and 21 people are full holders of the Order of Glory.
According to official data, during the Great Patriotic War, about 100 thousand people were evacuated to Tajikistan from the areas of the Soviet Union affected by military actions. In addition, during this period, 29 military hospitals operated in the republic. More than 100 thousand people were treated there and returned to the front.
