The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to allocate $7 billion in the 2026 fiscal year (begins October 1, 2025) to prepare for a manned flight of American astronauts to the Moon, according to data from a project published by the White House on Friday, Interfax reports.
This will speed up human exploration of the Moon and Mars, NASA said.
"This is (…) an investment to simultaneously continue exploration of the Moon and Mars while maintaining priority on continuing critical science and technology research," said NASA Acting Administrator Janet Petro.
$1 billion will be allocated for programs aimed at exploring Mars.
