On June 30, 2025, Istaravshan Mayor Adham Mamurzoda met with local athlete Muhammad Sultonzoda, who won a silver medal at the Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship. This was reported by the press service of the Istaravshan city administration.
The Asian Championship was held from June 18 to 26, 2025 in Vietnam and brought together more than 100 wrestlers in the age categories of up to 17 and up to 23 years old from 20 countries of the continent. Muhammad Sultonzoda competed in the weight category of up to 80 kilograms and confidently passed the competition, demonstrating high skill and the will to win.
On the way to the final, the athlete won convincing victories: in the quarterfinals, he won against a wrestler from Japan, in the semifinals – against a representative of China. In the decisive fight, he lost to an athlete from Uzbekistan, becoming the silver medalist of the tournament.
Following the meeting, Mayor Adham Mamurzoda, on behalf of the city’s executive authorities, presented Muhammad Sultonzoda with memorable gifts and expressed hope for the young athlete’s further athletic success.
The achievements of athletes like Muhammad Sultonzoda serve as an example for the younger generation and contribute to the development of the sports movement in the region.
