The foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states issued a joint statement on the situation in the Middle East. They expressed serious concern about the growing tension in the region and sharply condemned the military action against Iran, calling it a violation of the UN Charter and international law. The corresponding statement was issued following a meeting in Cholpon-Ata, the press service of the Organization reported.
The heads of the foreign policy departments stressed the inadmissibility of attacks on civilian facilities, including nuclear energy infrastructure, and warned of the risks of further destabilization of the region. The ministers recalled that such actions undermine efforts to create a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.
The statement also calls for abandoning the use of force, stopping strikes on facilities under IAEA safeguards, and returning to political and diplomatic paths to settlement. Separately, the ministers drew attention to recent statements by the Iranian leadership about its commitment to the obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
