The President of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF) Marat Omarov acknowledged the problem of organizing fixed matches in the country. This was reported by Fergana.ru with reference to Sports24.kz.
The topic of organizing "fixed matches" was recently raised by the press secretary of the Kazakhstan national team and famous commentator Yermukhamed Maulen. According to him, club directors complain about poor refereeing, and then they themselves contact the referees and participate in fixed matches. According to the commentator, almost all clubs do this, and in the second division, every second match is fixed. Some colleagues criticized Maulen and demanded that he present evidence. On June 25, Maulen left his job with the national team.
However, on June 27, KFF President Marat Omarov supported Maulen.
"Regarding fixed matches, I can say that there is such an organization as ''Sport Radar''. And according to the statistics of this organization, I can say that Kazakhstan is in fourth place in the world in terms of fixed matches. The KFF is actively fighting this, so there is truth in what Yermukhamed said. At the moment, the federation is actively fighting the problem of fixed matches. A package of bills has been prepared to toughen penalties, up to and including criminal liability, and discussions are underway with deputies and relevant bodies," Omarov said.
Fixed matches are often arranged with the aim of earning money on bets at bookmakers, which themselves fight against "fixed matches". However, it is extremely difficult to prove the fact of collusion, since the participants are somehow connected with each other and are not interested in disseminating such information.
