The launch ceremony of the Roadmap for Sustainable Development Goal 7 for Tajikistan took place on the sidelines of the III International Conference “Prospects for the Development of Renewable Energy in the Republic of Tajikistan”, the press center of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
The roadmap was developed by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
“The roadmap is of key importance for the sustainable implementation of Goal 7 in the country, and its launch is an important strategic step towards strengthening energy security and transition to green energy,” said Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Manuchehr Safarzoda.
He pointed to the initiatives and projects being implemented related to the development of renewable energy in the country, emphasizing their importance for achieving the set goals.
The roadmap sets out priority recommendations, including improving energy efficiency in all sectors of the economy, especially in the residential sector, to reduce energy consumption; replacing outdated cooking and heating technologies with efficient and modern ones, possibly using electrical equipment; and diversifying electricity generation sources by increasing the share of renewable sources in the overall energy supply.
The implementation of these recommendations will not only contribute to strengthening the sustainable energy base in the Republic of Tajikistan, but will also become an effective example of international cooperation in the framework of the practical implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
