As a result of a massive night attack by Russian drones on one of the settlements of the Verkhnesyrovatskaya community of the Sumy region, three civilians were killed, including a child, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported.
According to the agency, the attack occurred at midnight and caused widespread destruction in the residential sector. "The cynical attack caused widespread destruction in the residential sector," the rescue service said in a statement.
The body of an 8-year-old boy was recovered from the rubble of the destroyed building. A man and a woman from different families were also killed. According to preliminary data, another six people, including three children, were injured to varying degrees of severity and were hospitalized.
As specified by the police of Sumy region, about 30 residential buildings and four cars were damaged. A large-scale fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished by the units of the State Emergency Service despite the high fire load.
Investigative teams, rescuers and medical services continue to work at the site of the tragedy. The regional military administration previously confirmed that one of the settlements of the Verkhnesyrovatskaya community was attacked.
