There are 78 cold storage rooms and 4 warehouses for storing fruits and vegetables in the city of Tursunzade, with a total storage capacity of 24,930 tons. Currently, 850 tons of carrots and 10 tons of fruits are stored in cold storage rooms, which are taken to markets daily. This was reported by NIAT Khovar with reference to the city administration.
As of June 8, 315 tons of tomatoes, 782 tons of cucumbers and 10 tons of other agricultural products have been collected in the city’s greenhouses and presented to the republic’s markets.
The city's farmers transported 4,676 tons to the cities and districts of the republic and exported 3,536 tons of agricultural products abroad. The export of agricultural products is 2,218 tons more than in the same period last year.
There are 76.89 hectares of greenhouses in the city of Tursunzade, which make a significant contribution to providing the country's markets with fresh produce. During this period, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and other crops were planted on 73.88 hectares.
In the first five months of this year, farmers in Tursunzade planted agricultural crops on 12,882 hectares, which brought the volume of agricultural production to 198.6 million somoni for all types of farms. This figure is 30.2 million somoni more than for the same period last year, an increase of 118 percent.
This year, farmers in Tursunzade sowed 8,763 hectares with grain, 1,117 hectares with industrial crops, 130 hectares with legumes, 65 hectares with carrots, 90 hectares with cabbage, 601 hectares with tomatoes, 552 hectares with cucumbers, 204 hectares with potatoes, 601 hectares with onions and 251 hectares with forage crops.
According to officials, in the first five months of this year, city farmers produced 1,492 tons of grain, 344 tons of potatoes, 15,988 tons of vegetables, 125 tons of fruit, 1,052 tons of meat, 7,645 tons of milk and other agricultural products. Today, farms continue to harvest grain, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, various fruits and other agricultural products.
