Today, 3,854 industrial enterprises are actively operating in Tajikistan, covering all key areas – from mining to manufacturing, energy and ecology, NIAT Khovar reports with reference to the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The industrial sector remains one of the key drivers of Tajikistan's economic growth, contributing to job creation, regional development and strengthening the country's export potential. The results of January-May 2025 indicate an increase in industrial production – by 23.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
"In January-May 2025, the mining industry demonstrated a 1.7-fold increase. The volume of manufactured products reached 8114.2 million somoni, which emphasizes the importance of this sector for the republic's economy.
The development of the extractive sector, including through the introduction of new technologies and the attraction of investments, contributes to both an increase in export potential and the supply of domestic production with raw materials.
During the reporting period, 1,270 enterprises (33% of the total) operated in the Sughd region, 872 enterprises (22.6%) in the Khatlon region, 830 enterprises (21.5%) in Dushanbe, 699 enterprises (18.1%) in the districts of republican subordination, and 183 enterprises (4.8%) in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region,” the agency reports.
According to the source, particularly significant growth in industrial activity is observed in the Sughd region, where production during the specified period increased by 133.6% compared to last year. In Khatlon, the increase was 4.2%, and in the city of Dushanbe – 22.1%.
"The manufacturing industry accounts for the largest number of enterprises (more than 86%), and it also demonstrates steady growth. According to the results of January-May, production volumes in this sector increased by 4.7%, reflecting the activation of production capacities in the food, light, construction, metallurgy and other industries.
Successful development of the manufacturing industry plays a key role in creating added value, localizing production and import substitution.
The growth in the sphere of water supply, waste treatment and disposal amounted to 30.1%. This area has a double significance: on the one hand, it helps to improve the environmental situation, on the other hand, it forms a new branch of the "green" economy, including the processing of secondary raw materials," the department noted.
The Statistics Agency reports that the total volume of industrial output, including private entrepreneurs, for January-May 2025 amounted to 24.07 billion somoni. This is clear evidence that Tajikistan's industry is on the rise, continuing to make a significant contribution to the country's gross domestic product, providing employment and raising the standard of living.
The consistent implementation of state programs and strategies aimed at supporting industrial entrepreneurship, stimulating investment and introducing innovations yields tangible results both in the centers and in remote regions of the republic.
