Tajikistan's Temur Rakhimov won bronze at the 2025 World Judo Championships, which are taking place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
In the weight category over 100 kg, the Tajik heavyweight had confident fights, demonstrating a high level of preparation and skill. In the fight for third place, Rakhimov met with the representative of Azerbaijan Ushangi Kokauri.
The fight ended early – Temur Rakhimov won a clear victory (ippon), confidently using a throwing technique and a hold, which left his opponent no chance of salvation.
On his way to the bronze medal, the Tajik judoka had a series of tense fights, including a victory over a strong opponent from Austria, Movli Borchashvili, and securing his place in the quarterfinals.
The World Championship in Budapest brought together the strongest judokas on the planet, and Temur Rakhimov’s medal became an important achievement for the entire Tajikistan team.
In total, Tajikistan is represented at the world championship by nine athletes. Earlier, medals in their categories were won by Emomali Nurali (silver) and Obid Jebov (bronze) in the weight category up to 66 kg.
