An additional customs duty on the import of mobile phones will be introduced in Tajikistan from July 1, 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Government Resolution of June 10, 2025 No. 346, from the beginning of July, a customs duty of 20% of the customs value of mobile devices will be charged when importing them. The new measure applies to all phones imported for both commercial and personal purposes.
As the department reminded, the following mandatory payments are currently in effect when importing mobile phones:
14% VAT – value added tax on the customs value of the device, in accordance with the Tax Code of the country;
USD 10 is a customs fee established by Government Resolution No. 472 of December 2, 2005. However, devices worth up to USD 100 are exempt from paying this fee.
Thus, from July 1, 2025, the total amount of mandatory payments for importing a mobile phone worth more than $100 will be a customs fee ($10), 14% VAT and 20% duty on its customs value.
The department emphasized that these regulations also apply to the import of mobile phones for personal use, regardless of their quantity or country of origin.
