The film "Fish on the Hook", which was shot jointly by Tajik, Russian and Iranian filmmakers, is planned to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival. This was reported to TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) by the director of the Tajikfilm studio, Makhmadsaid Shohiyon.
"This year, by September, we will complete a joint Tajik, Russian, Iranian film called "Fish on a Hook." It is a great film, it is almost ready, it has already participated in one festival, and won the main prize. We want to send this film [for screenings abroad] – at least it will participate in the Cannes Film Festival," said Shohiyon.
As the director of the film studio noted, this film is planned to be shown in the CIS countries. According to Shohiyon, "Fish on the Hook" should open the Second International Film Festival "Toji Somon", which will be held in Dushanbe from October 15 to 20. He added that the scriptwriter of the film was the director, Honored Artist of Russia Valery Akhadov.
The film "Fish on the Hook" (Tajik: "Mohi dar shast") directed by Mukhiddin Muzaffar was shot by the Tajik film studios "Tajikfilm" and "DOVfilm" together with the Russian "Amkart" and the Iranian television company ifilm. In October 2024, this film received the Grand Prix of the Second National Film Award "Toji Somon", which was held in Dushanbe.
The film tells the story of how the main character, 10-year-old boarding school pupil Daler, dreams of finding his mother, and during the summer holidays she unexpectedly gets in touch. The husband of one of the boarding school teachers, driver Samad, volunteers to take Daler to her. They will travel across Tajikistan.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place from June 18 to 21. The main theme is "Common Values – the Basis for Growth in a Multipolar World".
