On June 22, Tirgon will be celebrated at the State Institution "Iram Park" with the Apricot Festival and an exhibition of dried fruits of Tajikistan. This was reported by NIAT "Khovar" with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
A variety of agricultural products will be presented, including various varieties of apricots, products made from these fruits, as well as domestic dried fruits, types of agricultural crops and scientific achievements of farmers. The cultural section of the event includes the presentation of awards to agricultural figures.
The Tirgon holiday is held in order to implement paragraph 20 of the “Schedule of holidays, anniversaries, festivals, exhibitions, cultural and educational events and folk rituals in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2025”, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 2, 2025.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the State Committee for Land Management and Geodesy, the committees for food security, environmental protection, regional development, tourism development, television and radio, land reclamation and irrigation agencies, export agencies, the Tajikmatlubot Union, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as executive bodies of state power of regions, cities and districts.
Each holiday, ritual and ceremony reflects the history of the people and its centuries-old civilization. In ancient times, the significance of the Tirgon holiday was equal to such holidays as Navruz, Mehrgon and Sada.
"The Tirgon holiday has been celebrated by our people with joy and fun since ancient times, observing its inherent rituals and traditions. During the days of Tirgon, grain ripens, many fruits ripen, and the mass harvesting of crops grown by farmers begins. That is, according to the Tajik people, the hot harvest of farmers' work begins," the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasized in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Tirgon holiday on June 30, 2024.
