In the city of Khujand in the Sughd region, asphalt paving works have started on a total area of 8,800 square meters of roads. The Chairman of the Sughd region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, took part in the ceremony to start construction works, the Executive Authority of the region reported .
Asphalting is carried out on separate sections of Khujand and Sebzor streets, which are part of the central transport network of the regional center. The project is being implemented within the framework of the program for the reconstruction of street and road infrastructure with the financial and organizational support of the Executive Authority of State Power of the Sughd Region.
According to the city's capital construction department, road works cover 5,300 square meters on Khujand Street and 3,500 square meters on Sebzor Street.
During the inspection of the progress of the work, the Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, instructed the responsible structures to ensure the completion of construction work within the strictly established deadlines, with mandatory compliance with technical regulations and road surface quality standards. According to him, special attention should be paid to quality control of materials and compliance with asphalt laying technology.
Akhmadzoda emphasized that the implementation of such projects is of strategic importance for the development of the city’s transport infrastructure and the creation of comfortable conditions for residents and guests of Khujand.
"On the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the active support of local authorities, large-scale work is being carried out in the regional center to improve and modernize the urban environment. The appearance of Khujand is gradually changing, which directly affects the quality of life of the population," the head of the region noted.
Currently, as reported by the city administration, in parallel with asphalt paving, shoulder repairs are being carried out, new curbs are being installed, and preparations are being made for applying road markings.
The possibility of including streets with increased traffic loads in the program at the next stages is also being considered in order to ensure uninterrupted transport links in the busiest parts of the city.
