Employees of the internal affairs bodies of the Khatlon region, as part of the ongoing preventive work to combat superstition and deception of the population, identified and detained six people who were engaged in fortune telling, witchcraft and "problem solving" through pseudoscientific and mystical methods. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Khatlon region.
According to law enforcement agencies, operational and preventive measures were carried out in the Abdurahmoni Jomi, Shakhritus, Kubodiyon and Kushoniyon districts aimed at identifying individuals misleading the population under the guise of providing “magic services”.
The following citizens were detained during the raids:
Bababekova Melikhol Karimovna, born in 1960, resident of the Bokhtariyon jamoat, Kushoniyon district;
Safarova Shodigul Gulmatovna, born in 1968, resident of the village of Dusti, A. Jomi district;
Tagaeva Aitila Kurbonovna, born in 1955, resident of the village of Dzhorbogi, Shakhritus district;
Ergasheva Inoyatkhon Khaitalievna, born in 1993, resident of the village of Kumkosh in the same district;
Ziyovuddinova Khursand Aslamovna, born in 1957, resident of the village of Rokhi Nav, Kubodiyon district, detained by employees of the Shakhritus Department of Internal Affairs;
Naimov Abdurakhmon Mustakimovich, born in 1964, resident of the Shakhritus district, detained by officers of the Kubodiyon Department of Internal Affairs.
As established during the investigation, the said individuals received citizens at their homes and, using various attributes – from charmed water to objects of animal origin, as well as musical instruments – promised to "remove damage", "open paths" and "solve family and financial problems".
"Every sensible citizen should understand that giving in to such superstitions means voluntarily giving up one's own strength of mind and will," the UMVD emphasized. "Fraudsters do not simply mislead people – they play on their vulnerability and harm their mental and financial state."
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the detainees under Article 482 of the Code of the Republic of Tajikistan on Administrative Offenses – for engaging in prohibited activities related to deceiving the population under the guise of witchcraft, fortune telling and other superstitious practices.
Law enforcement agencies remind that the fight against superstition and pseudo-treatment will continue, and citizens are advised to contact only qualified specialists in case of life or psychological difficulties.
