In anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, large-scale construction and improvement works are underway in the city of Nurek. According to the press service of the Khatlon region administration, the construction of 197 festive facilities is planned in the city, of which 121 have been commissioned to date. The construction of the rest is ongoing.
During the working visit , the Chairman of the Khatlon Region, Davlatali Said, personally familiarized himself with the progress of these works, visited a number of key sites and met with local activists and residents.
One of the objects of the visit was OOO Bogi Anor (Pomegranate Garden) with an area of 124 hectares, where more than 10 varieties of pomegranate are grown. On 11 hectares of the garden, work is underway to restore plants that have suffered from drying out. The garden management is taking a set of agrotechnical measures, including cleaning the rows, to ensure a high yield.
The city of Nurek stands out as a promising tourist destination, with dozens of social, cultural and industrial facilities, including modern greenhouse complexes. Thus, the greenhouse complex of SHAHRI ZEBOI MO LLC (Our Beautiful City) occupies an area of more than 12 hectares and specializes in growing seasonal flowers and vegetables. The first stage of reconstruction with an area of 1 hectare has been completed, and work on the next two hectares is in the final stage and is planned for delivery by September 2025.
There are also subsidiary farms in Nurek. In particular, the farm of energy industry veteran Abdullo Yorov, with an area of 0.3 hectares, has been growing lemongrass and persimmon since 2018. In 2023–2024, the farm produced 6 tons of lemons and 8 tons of persimmons.
In the field of innovation, a significant example was the fish farm of Abdurozik Khakimov, created in 2021. Using artificial cages on an area of 2.5 acres, trout is bred here. In 2023-2024, 41 tons of fish were produced, and in the first five months of 2025 – more than 10 tons. Currently, 65 thousand fry are grown on the farm, and production is expected to reach 35 tons by the end of the year.
In addition, the regional chairman got acquainted with the progress of construction of the psychiatric department of the Nurek Central Hospital. The work is being carried out by Somon Davlat Sokhtmon LLC, and the facility is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
During the visit, Davlatali Said emphasized that Nurek, with its natural beauty, tourist attractions and developing agricultural, fish farming and industrial sectors, has high potential to attract tourists and investors. He instructed the responsible persons to take the necessary measures to further improve the city and create comfortable conditions for residents and visitors.
