As the 2nd Central Asia-China Summit approaches, a survey released by CGTN shows that the high-level cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries is a true embodiment of a community with a shared future, which has continuously brought stability to the increasingly turbulent international landscape.
Since the 1st Central Asia-China Summit, cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries in various fields has accelerated. 92% of respondents believe that by making Central Asia one of the priorities in its diplomacy, China has created more opportunities for the countries in the region to implement reforms, develop and strengthen regional influence.
According to the General Administration of Customs of China, the total trade volume between China and Central Asian countries reached US$94.8 billion in 2024, up US$5.4 billion from the previous year. This is a record high.
According to the survey results, 92.3% of respondents said that under the constraints of economic globalization, strengthened and diversified trade and economic cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries can effectively address external uncertainties.
In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping first proposed the Silk Road Economic Belt in Central Asia. Since then, China has regarded Central Asian countries as key partners in the Belt and Road Initiative. 92.4% of respondents agreed that the Belt and Road Initiative is an important international public good that supports high-level cooperation between China and Central Asia.
90% of survey respondents believe that the China-Central Asia mechanism is not based on rivalry, but on principles that allow both sides to strive for stability, development and future-oriented cooperation.
The survey was published on CGTN platforms in English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian, and received more than 2,000 responses within 24 hours.
