The International Forum "Trade and Investment Opportunities and Prospects for Cooperation" was held on June 12 in Khujand as part of the International Trade Fair "Sughd – 2025". This was reported by the press service of the Sughd regional administration.
The Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, welcomed the participants at the opening of the forum. In his speech, he emphasized that the forum is a clear demonstration of the “open door” policy and the desire of the Republic of Tajikistan to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the international community.
"Over the past 11 years, this forum has established itself as an effective platform for business dialogue and the development of trade and economic ties. This year, more than 500 representatives from more than 20 countries are taking part in it," Akhmadzoda noted.
According to the organizers, over the past five years, over 4 billion US dollars of foreign investment have been attracted to the economy of the Sughd region. Today, 18 state investment projects are being implemented in the region for a total of over 250 million dollars.
The regional chairman recalled that the accelerated industrialization of the country, defined by the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan until 2030, is a priority of state policy. In this context, special attention is paid to the development of the production base, the creation of new jobs, as well as the expansion of raw material processing in the republic.
In his speech, the head of the region pointed out the existence of favorable conditions for foreign investors, in particular the functioning of industrial zones in the regions and the free economic zone "Sughd" in the city of Khujand, provided with modern infrastructure.
Akhmadzoda named the development of light industry, cotton processing, construction of modern greenhouse complexes, as well as the pharmaceutical and jewelry industries as priority areas of cooperation. He also named the development of ecological and historical-cultural tourism as a promising area.
The regional chairman expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for supporting investment initiatives, including through the provision of tax and customs benefits, and noted the importance of humanitarian cooperation in the fields of science, education, healthcare and culture.
Representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations and business circles spoke at the forum, highly appreciating the organization of the event and its importance for regional economic partnership.
As the organizers note, the Sughd-2025 forum will become a significant stage in expanding international cooperation and strengthening the investment potential of Tajikistan.
