A delegation of the Council on Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan held talks with representatives of the Directorate of Science, Innovation and Technology of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). This was reported by the press service of the Council on Artificial Intelligence of Tajikistan
The parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, sustainable digital infrastructure and attracting investment in projects based on green energy.
The Tajik side presented to the international partner the concept of the first AI technopark in Central Asia — Area AI. The project combines scientific research, educational initiatives, IT developments and sustainable infrastructure based on renewable energy sources.
One of the key points of discussion was the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to create a global zone of self-regulation of artificial intelligence in Central Asia — the so-called AI Sandbox. It is assumed that the platform will become a platform for ethical testing, sustainable digital solutions and international cooperation in this area.
Particular attention was paid to issues of synthetic data, support for scientific research and development (R&D), and the creation of green data centers powered by electricity generated by hydroelectric power plants. In this context, the importance of the Rogun HPP and the 98 percent share of "green" energy in the country's generation structure was emphasized.
The negotiations ended with mutual agreements on further exchange of experience, support for joint initiatives and attracting British investment in digital sustainability projects in the Republic of Tajikistan.
