China and the United States have had professional, rational, in-depth and frank exchanges of views over the past two days, a senior Chinese official said on Tuesday.
Li Chenggang, China's international trade negotiator and vice minister of commerce, made the remarks at a press briefing after the first meeting of the China-US Economic and Trade Consultation Mechanism held in London.
The two sides agreed on a fundamental framework for implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state during their telephone talks on June 5 and during the talks in Geneva, Li Chenggang said.
He said it is hoped that the progress made at the London meeting will help build trust between China and the US and further promote the steady and healthy development of economic and trade ties between the two countries. Li Chenggang added that the meeting will also inject positive energy into global economic growth.
