Within the framework of the IV Tashkent International Investment Forum, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the State Minister for Foreign Trade of the State of Qatar Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Said. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, Minister Zavqizoda emphasized that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policies of the leaders of the two countries – President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani – Tajik-Qatari relations are developing at a steady pace and have reached a high level.
The Minister noted the need to intensify practical cooperation within the framework of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding on Charitable and Humanitarian Cooperation. In this regard, he put forward an initiative to implement 14 priority investment projects, as well as three charitable initiatives. Among the latter is the construction of an infectious diseases hospital and an emergency medical care facility, which is provided for by the instructions of the leadership of Tajikistan.
The parties expressed their readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation, in particular in the areas of investment, green and renewable energy, processing industry – especially in terms of processing agricultural and mineral products, tourism and logistics.
Zavqizoda invited the Qatari Minister of Foreign Trade to pay an official visit to Tajikistan at a time convenient for him. The invitation was accepted with gratitude by the Qatari side.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation and implementing joint projects in priority sectors.
