The volume of trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2024 amounted to over 4.1 billion US dollars. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS.
According to the head of the Tajik government, this figure exceeds the volume of mutual trade in 2023 by $573 million. He emphasized that the largest share in Tajikistan's foreign trade structure among the CIS countries is occupied by the Russian Federation – 22.1%, followed by the Republic of Kazakhstan with a share of 14.4% and the Republic of Uzbekistan – 6.5%.
Rasulzoda noted that the country's foreign economic activity is developing in accordance with current global and regional trends, including through the implementation of the State Export Program for 2021-2025, as well as through the effective work of intergovernmental commissions on trade and economic cooperation.
During his speech, the Prime Minister also presented data on macroeconomic indicators. Thus, according to the results of 2024, the growth rate of Tajikistan's gross domestic product was 8.4%, which is slightly higher than the 2023 figure (8.3%). In the first quarter of 2025, real GDP growth was 8.2%, which, according to him, demonstrates the continuation of positive dynamics.
"We view these results as evidence of the effectiveness of the course on economic modernization, structural reforms and institutional development. These achievements have become possible thanks to the strong trust and partnership that we are building within the Commonwealth. Together we are stronger and are able to overcome any difficulties," said Kokhir Rasulzoda.
