Russian officials and their media continue to conduct a large-scale information campaign on a daily basis, trying to mislead the world community into believing that the Russian army does not strike civilian targets and civilians, but exclusively on military facilities .
This lie was once again refuted by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry into Violations in Ukraine, which presented its findings on May 28 a special report , which thoroughly documented systematic attacks by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles on civilians in the city of Kherson and other populated areas of the right-bank part of the Kherson region.
What the report says:
"The Russian Armed Forces have committed murders of civilians using drones as crimes against humanity, carrying out months-long drone attacks on civilians on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region of Ukraine. These actions have been established to have been committed with the primary purpose of sowing fear among the civilian population, which is a violation of international humanitarian law.
Since July 2024, Russian military drone operators based on the opposite side of the river have systematically targeted civilians in a variety of circumstances, mostly in the open, on foot or in vehicles. They have also targeted ambulances , which have special protection under international humanitarian law, often preventing them from reaching victims.
The commission documented drone attacks on civilians in the city of Kherson and 16 other settlements stretching over 100 kilometers in coastal areas under Ukrainian government control. The attacks are ongoing at the time of publication.
According to official sources, nearly 150 civilians have been killed and hundreds injured to date .
These and other elements led the Commission to conclude that Russian armed forces carried out drone attacks on civilians in accordance with organizational policy and committed killings as crimes against humanity ."
Documented facts confirm the systematic shelling of civilian targets by Russia, as a result of which innocent people, including children, continue to die in Ukraine.
We are convinced that, over time, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Violations in Ukraine will also assess all of Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians, and all of the flagrant violations of humanitarian law and human rights by the Russian Federation.
We hope that all cases of abduction of Ukrainian children will also be investigated.
Russia does not want the war to end , all statements about this are lies and manipulation. Against the background of active peace efforts by Ukraine and international partners, Moscow's actions demonstrate complete disregard for international peace initiatives and a desire to intensify terror instead of constructive dialogue.
