Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov conveyed the Ukrainian position in the form of a ceasefire document to Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky and called on the Russian side to expedite the submission of a response memorandum. He reported this on the X social network.
According to the minister, the transfer of the Ukrainian document took place in the follow-up to the meeting of the parties held on May 16 in Turkey. Kyiv and its international partners expected that Moscow would send its own draft memorandum, but this did not happen.
"Unfortunately, the Russian side tried to drag out the process," Umerov noted, adding that pressure from the international community, including tough statements from Presidents Trump, Zelensky and EU leaders, forced Moscow to complete work on the document.
However, as Umerov emphasized, the Russian side has not yet handed over the text of the memorandum. "They have received our document. We expect their position no later than June 2," he said, confirming Ukraine's readiness for a complete ceasefire and continuation of diplomatic dialogue.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha also called on Russia to immediately hand over the draft memorandum: "Why wait until Monday? If the text is ready, it can be sent right now."
Meanwhile, the Russian side, through Vladimir Medinsky, proposed the date and place of the next meeting, confirming that a telephone conversation between the delegations took place.
