A man suspected of committing a series of frauds, who posed as a law enforcement officer, has been detained in the Dusti district of Khatlon Region, the Khatlon Region Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports .
As specified, during operational and investigative activities, officers of the district police department detained Mamadzhonzoda Anvar, born in 1994, a native of the Shakhritus district, living in the city of Dushanbe. According to law enforcement officials, the detainee has a criminal record and has previously been prosecuted for theft and fraud.
During the investigation, it was established that Mamadzhonzoda Anvar repeatedly posed as a representative of law enforcement agencies and an entrepreneur, gained the trust of citizens and took possession of their money under various pretexts. One of these episodes occurred on May 12 of this year at the Dushanbe-City banking service center, located on Rudaki Street in the Dusti district. The accused introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and, having deceived the center's specialist Kamolov Ibrokhim, received 15 thousand somoni in cash from him under the pretext of subsequently transferring funds via a bank card. After receiving the money, he disappeared, causing significant material damage to the victim.
In addition, during the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the detainee was involved in another episode of theft.
Currently, Mamadzhonzoda Anvar is suspected of committing six cases of fraud and one case of theft. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a criminal case has been opened against him under Articles 247 Part 3 (fraud) and 244 Part 2 (theft) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. Investigative actions are ongoing.
The Khatlon Region Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to citizens with a request: if anyone has also become a victim of Mamadzhonzoda Anvar’s actions, they must immediately contact the internal affairs agencies.
