In the city of Guliston, Sughd region, training camps of the Tajikistan national judo team have started in preparation for the World Championship, which will be held from June 12 to 18, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary, the press service of the regional administration reports .
As reported by the Judo Federation of Tajikistan, the training camp is held from May 22 to June 8 on the initiative of the Federation and with the support of the executive bodies of state power of the Sughd region. 50 athletes and coaches are participating in the training. The preparation is carried out under the guidance of experienced specialists.
The team that will represent Tajikistan at the upcoming championship includes 9 athletes – participants and winners of international tournaments, including the Olympic Games.





The Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, got acquainted with the training process. During his visit to the training center, he held a meeting with members of the team, during which he noted the importance of sports as part of the state social policy.
"In the first five months of this year, Tajik judokas have won 18 medals at international tournaments, including the Grand Slam series. In 2024, athletes brought 22 awards to the national team. This is evidence of the high level of training and serious work of the coaching staff," Akhmadzoda emphasized.
According to the head of the region, all conditions for effective training and recovery of athletes have been created in Guliston. The training base is equipped with the necessary equipment, and comfortable conditions for living and rehabilitation are also provided.




During the meeting, Akhmadzoda called on the athletes to use the opportunities provided for serious training and to achieve worthy results at the World Championship, emphasizing that their successes contribute to strengthening the country’s international image.
The World Judo Championships in Budapest will be one of the main international starts for the Tajikistan national team in 2025. The Republic's Judo Federation expects the team to represent the country with dignity and contribute to the development of national sports.
