The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Ingmin Yang, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the first International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
During the meeting, key issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for expanding interaction between Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank were discussed.
Emomali Rahmon noted that ADB is one of the country's main strategic partners in the field of sustainable development. It was emphasized that over the years of fruitful cooperation, the bank has provided Tajikistan with support in the amount of over 2.7 billion US dollars. Within the framework of this partnership, more than 190 projects have been implemented, which have played an important role in the development of various sectors of the economy, including energy, transport, healthcare and education.
Special attention during the negotiations was paid to issues of strengthening the sustainability of the national economy in the context of the growing influence of external factors, including climate change. The need for increasing investments and grant support for the implementation of infrastructure and energy projects, as well as for the purpose of solving socially significant problems, was emphasized.





Areas for deepening partnership in the areas of digitalization of the economy, modernization of agriculture, improvement of transport logistics, expansion of access to medical services, as well as development of tourism and the private sector were considered.
The parties discussed the effective implementation of the project “Improving Professional Skills and Employability”, which is aimed at training qualified personnel, increasing employment and improving living standards.
The President of Tajikistan expressed hope that ADB will take an active part in supporting the International Trust Fund for Glacier Preservation, established at the UN as part of the implementation of the General Assembly resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Preservation.
In addition, during the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the preparation of a new five-year partnership strategy between Tajikistan and ADB.
