Adaptation centers for migrants will open in five regions of Russia, where they will give a short lecture course on the rules of stay and life in the Russian Federation, as well as provide consultations. This was announced by the head of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs (FADN) Igor Barinov, Fergana.ru reports with reference to the Parliamentary Newspaper.
Adaptation centers will be opened in Kemerovo Region, Khabarovsk Krai, Yakutia, Chelyabinsk Region and Tatarstan. At the initial stage, courses can be attended voluntarily and free of charge.
According to Barinov, the adaptation course is a lecture material divided into thematic blocks, including migration and labor legislation, administrative and criminal liability, rules and norms of behavior in Russian society, basic information about Russia, as well as the history of relations between the countries of the Central Asian region and the Russian Federation. Particular attention within the course is paid to issues of preventing extremism and countering the ideology of terrorism.
"If the course is given at a migration center, its duration is on average about one hour. If it takes place at employers' premises, such a meeting can take several hours. Each of the course blocks is designed for an average of 20-30 minutes," Barinov explained.
Among the main goals of the course, the head of the Federal Agency for Nationalities names the need to reduce the influence of intermediaries who impose legalization services in Russia on migrants, as well as increasing the trust of foreigners in Russian authorities and official structures.
"The course was developed with the participation of the country's leading universities, including, for example, the well-known St. Petersburg State University, as well as psychologists, practicing lawyers, linguists, and other specialists. When finalizing the materials, our agency constantly consults with representatives of federal specialized bodies – these are the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee and other structures," the head of the agency listed.
