During his working visit, the Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, got acquainted with the progress of field work in the Devashtich district. The main attention was paid to the development of potato growing, land irrigation and support for farms.
As reported by the press service of the regional chairman, this year in the district it is planned to sow 9 thousand hectares with potatoes, which is 800 hectares more compared to the same period last year. Devashtich traditionally remains one of the leading potato-growing regions not only in Sogd, but in the entire republic.
As part of the measures to improve the water supply of irrigated lands in the village of Basmanda, 12 kilometers of irrigation pipelines were laid. This allowed an additional 500 hectares of previously unused land to be brought into irrigation. The regional chairman noted that such projects not only serve to increase crop yields, but also contribute to the creation of new jobs.

According to him, favorable climatic conditions and a modern approach to agricultural technology allow increasing production volumes. In accordance with the instructions of the head of state Emomali Rahmon, in the coming years, potato production volumes in the region should reach 500 thousand tons.
During the trip, special attention was also paid to the seed farm named after Khotam Kurbonov, where potatoes were sown on 400 hectares this year. Another 400 hectares of irrigated land were developed due to new areas.

In addition, sericulture is actively developing in the region. In the current season, 180 boxes of silkworms were distributed to villagers. According to forecasts, the volume of cocoon procurement can reach 6 tons. At the moment, more than 1.5 tons of raw materials have already been handed over to the receiving points.

During a meeting with silkworm breeders, the regional chairman emphasized that the development of this industry is important for providing raw materials for the textile industry, as well as for strengthening employment.
At the end of the visit, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda visited the honored teacher, veteran of the education system Noriya Akhtamova. Over 35 years of work, she made a significant contribution to the education of youth and the development of the education system in the region. The head of the region noted that caring for veterans remains a priority for regional and state authorities.
