Officers of the Department for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Dushanbe detained two residents of the capital during verification activities on suspicion of fortune telling and witchcraft. This was reported by the press service of the Department.
During the operation, the identities of the detainees were established: 52-year-old Abibullaeva Lyubov and 60-year-old Gardakova Robiyamokh, both residents of Dushanbe. According to the police, the women used various objects – playing cards, locks and keys – to conduct rituals and fortune-telling sessions, deriving illegal financial benefits from this.

Administrative protocols were drawn up against the detainees in accordance with Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan – “Engaging in witchcraft, fortune telling and other actions that mislead citizens.”
The court reviewed the case materials and imposed an administrative penalty on each of the violators in the form of a fine in the amount of 80 calculated indicators. The fine amounted to 6,000 somoni.
As noted by the UMVD, work to identify and suppress instances of occult and pseudo-magical activity that violates public order and misleads citizens will continue on an ongoing basis.
