The first summit with the participation of the heads of state of Central Asia and Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni will take place on May 30 in Astana, on the same day the head of the Italian government will make an official visit to Kazakhstan. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Summits in the format where the leaders of the Central Asian "five" countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – meet with the head of another state have been held for several years now. Similar events are also held at a high level with the participation of heads of the Foreign Ministry or other departments.
This summer, Astana is also planning to host the Central Asia-China summit, and in the fall, Dushanbe will host the Central Asia-Russia summit.
