In Tajikistan, the volume of sowing of agricultural crops has increased significantly. According to the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as of May 1, 2025, sowing was carried out in public and dehkan farms on an area of 308.2 thousand hectares, which is twice as much as in the same period last year.
According to official information, of the total land area, the following is sown: — 69.9 thousand hectares — grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn), — 5.3 thousand hectares — grain corn, — 164.8 thousand hectares — industrial crops (including 152.3 thousand hectares — cotton), — 16.9 thousand hectares — potatoes, — 24.9 thousand hectares — vegetables, — 72 hectares — vegetable seeds, – 10.2 thousand hectares – melons, — 16.1 thousand hectares — forage crops.
There is a significant increase in sown areas compared to the same period in 2024. Thus, the sowing of grain and leguminous crops increased by 1.7 times, corn for grain – by 2.2 times, industrial crops – by 1.9 times, including cotton – also by 1.9 times. The sowing of potatoes increased by 2 times, vegetables – by 4 times, vegetable seeds – by 1.8 times, melons – by 3.2 times, forage crops – by 2.1 times.
As the Agency emphasized, the growth in indicators is associated with favorable weather conditions, the expansion of cultivated land and government support measures aimed at increasing crop production.
